Encanto IS AMAZING!! The colors are exquisite, the culture is vibrant, and the messages are soul deep. I cried. Many times. And laughed too. And the MUSIC!! If you completely ADORE #linmanuelmiranda for everything he has created (Moana, Hamilton, & In The Heights)WOW! It was all SO INCREDIBLE. I can’t wait to see it again! We’ve been playing the soundtrack ever since yesterday!

I’m so excited that it is coming to Disney+ on CHRISTMAS EVE for EVERYONE!!! (Spoilers past this point)

Mirabel is in the Madrigals Family! When her Abuela & Abuelo we’re escaping their village with their newborn triplets, a miracle happens - that creates the safe and enchanted home & beloved community. Each Madrigal family member has a special gift - except Mirabel. The messages I took away were:

✨Each gift & talent is wonderful, & should be celebrated-but is not the only thing to be cared for or seen in someone you love

✨EVERYONE has weaknesses, even with their gifts and talents. It’s wonderful when we can be vulnerable with each other and be our true selves and celebrate both.

✨Generational Trauma, can be passed on when a person on your family tree is unable to see or work through a hard experience. Which can then pass onto each generation until someone becomes a transitional figure-& chooses to see it, and make a healthier change. This doesn’t mean we don’t love our family, this just means we see a healthier way to move forward. *I love that a Disney movie is making this concept an important topic

✨Mirabel does get a gift at the end, & it helps the whole family shift their understanding to a healthier view.

✨Everyone has a gift, even if you don’t understand it right away-& it might even be one of the most life changing ones. It literally saved her family.

I’d love to hear your thoughts too! Wasn’t it amazing?! ❤️

                       MENU

EW Magical Meal Menu for ENCANTO!!! 😍

We knew as a family we HAD to make a meal for this AMAZING movie 😍. You might have already seen my previous post for my review….but WOW! (Everyone else watching it on repeat?! 🙋‍♀️)
It’s such a beautiful story, glorious colors, amazing soul-deep songs and messages….I could not be more happy about opening up many discussions of mental health, family systems, generational trauma, healing and the list could go on - soul deep. I don’t know about you, but the more I age the more I’m grateful for vulnerability, speaking truth, and feeling truly connected.

In addition, it was a request of a fan and it only gave me more desire to make it quicker!! Plus those Arepas Con Queso looked so good!! 😋 I made sure to look up Colombian food, and made sure these things could be a part of a cuisine enjoyable to the Madrigal Family 😉

🎉Menu

✨Arepas Con Queso (there is a great recipe online, and even an awesome video of the women that play Isabel and Mirabel making them! I’ll post it in my blog soon! With more instructions!) You can put the cheese or toppings on top, but we also saw many who would open them! We do both!

✨Rice with Carrots (delicious recipe I will also post on the blog!)

✨Maize Chips (AKA Corn chips, I got a blue version because it felt more festive)

✨Beans (you can use any your family prefer, we used @ducal beans! This kind of beans can be found at Walmart even!)

✨Lettuce
✨Peppers
✨Avocado (fresh or we LOVE @whollyguacamole!!)
✨Diced Tomatoes

🎉Drinks: Agua (water 😉) & Columbian Salpicon (it’s a fruit salad in club soda!)

🎉Treat: Ice Cream (we used @dreyers Vanila Bean) with Mango (I just chopped up the mango, and we used @dole !) + Your favorite South American Cookie! We used a Cinnamon one! There are so many GREAT ones at the grocery store!!

Super FUN FESTIVE Meal!!

✨Did you LOVE this movie?!
✨Which character could you relate with or touched your heart?! ❤️
